Get dog, check. Set up dog's insta profile, check.

It's standard procedure after getting a dog to post your millions of photos on socials. And why not? 

But if you think socials are the best way to capture memories of your pet, you'd be wrong.

All those snaps and videos – that you carefully condense into a few seconds, soundtracked to trending music – they aren't memories for you. They are little stories you think other people will like.

Be honest. If you told the story of your pet, just for you – if you didn't think for one second about what would make other people hit 'like' – would the story look the same as your socials? 

I know mine wouldn't.

I don't want to share everything about my pets on social media. There are things I love about them that I want to keep just for me.

And I don't just want the picture-perfect snaps or the funny soundbites: I want the full story. The good, the bad and the downright ridiculous.
